We share a moment of heartfelt gratitude and celebration as three incredible members of our Smart Works Greater Manchester Trustee team step down from their roles. Between them, they have given years of dedication, care, and unwavering support that has helped shape who we are today.

‍Jan Iceton - Chair of the Board of Trustees Jan has been at the very heart of our journey over the past seven years. Her vision, determination, and belief in our mission have been instrumental in helping us expand and grow as a charity, as well as establishing and developing our Manchester centre, opening the door for us to support thousands of women across the city region. As Chair, Jan has led with clarity, compassion, and strength, guiding the charity through growth and change, always keeping our purpose front and centre. Jan’s leadership has left a lasting legacy, and we are so grateful for everything she has given.

‍Alison Lever - TreasurerFor over seven years, Alison has been the steady hand behind the scenes, ensuring the sustainability and strength of our charity. As Treasurer, her careful stewardship and expertise have kept us on track and moving forward. From her meticulous number crunching to her dedication on our shop floor (monitoring sales and making sure we maximise every opportunity to raise funds!), Alison has gone above and beyond. She has also been incredibly hands-on, stepping in to help with appointments and offering support wherever it’s needed, always with generosity and care. Her commitment has helped ensure we can continue supporting women into the future.

‍Sarah Bateman - TrusteeSarah has been an incredible champion of Smart Works from the very beginning. In the early days, she generously gave her time as a coaching volunteer when Smart Works GM began in 2015, directly supporting the women we serve. Over the last 10 years, she has played a huge role in our events and partnerships, helping us to grow our community and extend our reach. Her energy, warmth, and commitment have made a meaningful difference to so many, and her impact will be felt for years to come.

To Jan, Sarah, and Alison: thank you. Your time, passion, and belief in our mission have helped build something truly special. While you may be stepping down from your roles, you will always be part of the Smart Works Greater Manchester story.
