12 months of Smart Works, amazing clients, the return of events, sales, our annual fundraiser Cycle…and everything in between! We’re proud to have delivered just under 600 appointments of job help, 1st dressing & interview prep and second dressings, supporting almost 500 women. It wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible volunteer team, supporters, Ambassadors, Trustees and staff team – thank you so much. There have been challenges throughout 2021 with ever changing rules and restrictions, but we have continued to support women at that crucial moment in their lives, giving them the clothing and the confidence to succeed.

Our service will be closed between Christmas and New Year to give our team a well deserved break, returning on 4th January.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year

Second Hand Styling X Smart Works image

Second Hand Styling UK is an ever-evolving platform dedicated to the world of pre-loved fashion. We were delighted to work in collaboration with Second Hand Styling recently at their Swap Shop, with all the proceeds going to Smart Works Greater Manchester.

Second hand Styling UK Founder, Lucy Norris shared her tips, tricks and inside secrets around styling pre-loved, whilst shoppers enjoyed this sustainable shopping event, where you could swap your pre-loved clothes with others, to find a new-to-you fashion find!

This was a non-profit event to promote recycling and reuse of fashion and help you refresh your wardrobe in a beautifully sustainable way through a guilt free shopping experience.

Sustainability is hugely important to us and we were so happy to be a part of this, thank you for your support Lucy!

Our first event since lockdown – Inspiring Tales image

In person events have resumed! We’re so happy to be back with our supporters, after a challenging year, it felt great to engage with people face to face. Our event was hosted at Bloc by Bruntwood, which was the most beautiful space.⁣

We were joined by our panel of guest speakers, our SWGM Ambassador and MD at Social Chain Katy Leeson and Jayne Garner, Head of Intergration at Ingeus Manchester and Sarah Bateman, SWGM Trustee. We had a great discussion about economic recovery and what positive things we’ll be taking from the last 18 months. It was insightful and inspiring to listen to them and sparked great conversation with our supporters.⁣

We ended the night with some guilt-free shopping, networking and a glass of fizz. Huge thanks to everyone who came out to support, we look forward to seeing you at the next one! ⁣

Smart Works Turns 8 image

Smart Works turns 8!

This month is our eighth anniversary, and we have a lot to celebrate.

From our first centre in Islington in 2013, to opening 8 centres across the UK in the last 8 years we’re proud to have helped 20,000 women on their journey into employment.

Our mission has always been to help any woman who needs our support find her way to a Smart Works centre and the last 12 months has shown that our service is needed now more than ever before.

We couldn’t do this without our amazing community, from supporters, staff, and volunteers, everyone has worked tirelessly to help us reach more women across the UK. Without their continued support and passion for our service, we could not be celebrating this achievement.

As we celebrate 8 years, 8 centres and 20,000 women helped we’re looking forward to celebrating more birthdays, centres opened, and women’s lives changed. 🥂
